Quarter Past

When the minute hand is on 3, the time shows 15 minutes or a quarter past.

The minute hand moves a quarter way around the clock. It looks like a quarter of a circle.

Example: Look at the clock given below.

Here, the hour hand is on 12 and the minute hand is on 3. So the time is quarter past 12 or

12: 15.

Therefore Quarter past twelve is the same as 12:15.

Quarter past 1, quarter past 2 and quarter past 3 are all ways of describing 1:15, 2:15 and

3:15.

 At a quarter past, the hour hand won't point exactly at any of the hour numbers. It

will have moved a little after it.
