TOPIC- Growing
SUB TOPIC- Parts Of A Tree
LEARNING OBJECTIVE- To learn about the different parts of a tree and
understand their functions.
DISCUSSION-
• Parts of a Tree: Root, trunk, branch, leaf, bud, flower, and fruit.
• Root – Grows beneath the soil. It anchors the tree firmly in the ground
and absorbs water and nutrients from the soil, sending them to the rest
of the tree through the stem.
• Shoot – Grows above the soil and includes all the other visible parts of the
tree.
• Trunk – The main stem of the tree. It supports the branches and carries
water and nutrients to all parts of the tree.
• Branch – Grows out from the trunk and holds leaves, buds, flowers, and
fruits.
• Leaf – Known as the "food factory" of the plant. Leaves use sunlight,
water, and chlorophyll to prepare food through the process of
photosynthesis.
• Bud – A small part that can grow into a flower, leaf, or new branch.
• Flower – The colourful part of the plant. It often has a pleasant smell and
eventually develops into a fruit.
• Fruit – Develops from a flower. Some fruits contain one seed, while others
have many.
• We Get Many Things from Plants
Plants provide us with fruits, vegetables, medicines, rubber, oil, paper,
wood, fibre, spices, cereals, pulses, and more.
• Activity: Discuss and share the different parts of a tree and describe
their functions.
