Quick Understanding of the poetic devises used:(To be written in the Eng CW
               Notebook [Literary skills]
                              •Personification - It is a poetic device in which a non-living thing or an abstract idea
                               or an animal is given attributes. eg- The shadow of the moon danced on the lake.
                              •Similarly in the poem, the poet has personified the scarecrow by attributing human
                      1.       characeristics. "The scarecrow combes his hair"





                              • Imagery- Is the use of words and phrases that create images in the mind.
                                "shouting monkeys and porcupines"
                     2.




                              • Alliteration - Alliteration is the repetition of the same consonant
                                sounds at the beginning of words that are in close proximity to each
                     3.         other. "his hair", "something he should surely know"



                              • Simile - A simile is a figure of speech that makes a comparison, showing
                                similarities between two different things. Unlike a metaphor, a simile draws
                                resemblance with the help of the words “like” or “as.” Therefore, it is a direct
                     4.         comparison. "While seasons circle round and round like oxen on a
                                threshing floor"




                              • Rhyming - Rhyme scheme is the pattern of rhyme that comes at the end of
                                each verse or line in poetry.
