Page 3 - Lesson Note 4
P. 3
Example: 1 305 x 10
Step 1: Multiply 305 x 1=305
Step 2: Now, insert one ‘0’ on the right side of the product.
Step 3: Hence, the product is 3050.
2. To multiply a given number by 100: Multiply the non-zero given number by 1 and
insert two ‘00’ on the right side of the product.
Example 1: 345 x 100
Step 1: Multiply 345 x 1=345
Step 2: Now, insert two ‘00’ on the right side of the product.
Step 3: Hence, the product is 345 x 100 = 34500.
Example 2: 305 x 100
Step1: Multiply 305 x 1 = 305
Step 2: Now insert two ‘00’ on the right side of the product.
Step 3: Hence, the product is 30500
3. To multiply a given number by 1000: Multiply the non-zero given number by 1
and insert three ‘000’ on the right side of the product.
Example 3: 345 x 1000
Step 1: Multiply 345 x 1 = 345
Step 2: Now, insert three ‘000’ on the right side of the product.
Step 3: Hence, the product is 345 x 1000 = 345000
Multiplication by the multiples of 10, that is 20, 30, 40………
Example1: 3 x 20 =60
Step 1: Multiply the given non - zeronumbers.
3 x 2 = 6
Step 2: Insert one zero on the right of the product.
3 x 20 = 60
Example 2: 30 x 20 = 600
Step1: Multiply the given non-zero numbers, 3 x 2 =6
Step2: Count zero present at the right side of the numbers,(30 x 20)
Step3: Insert the number of zeros in the product on the right side.
30 x 20 = 600
Multiplication by the multiples of 100,that is 200, 300, 400…….
