Learning Objective:
• Identify the magic ‘e’ at the end of CVC words (e.g.,
"cake", "ride").
• Understand that magic ‘e’ changes the short vowel sound
to a long vowel sound.
• Read and write words with the ‘magic e’ pattern.
Discussion:
• Write CVC words on the board (e.g., cap, pin, hop).
• Add ‘e’ to make new words (e.g., cape, pine, hope).
• Say the words aloud and emphasize the long vowel
sound.
• Compare: cap vs. cape, kit vs. kite, mad vs. made.
• Emphasize on the magic ‘e’ sound words.
• Explain, When a consonant comes in between two vowels
and the last vowel is ‘e’, it sprinkles its magic on the
previous vowel that take its name, and the ‘e‘ remains
silent.
• Encourage to come up with the magic ’e’ sound words
and blend them.
