Question and Answers-

               A2

Q1. What was Swaminathan doing when Rajam arrived?
Ans: Swaminathan was sitting in the dark corner of the room trying to make a camera
with a cardboard box and a spectacle lens. He was trying to fit the lens in the hole that
was too large for the lens.

Q2. Who was better at coming up with names for the team?
Ans: Swaminathan was better at coming up with names for the team. He quickly came
up with names like Friends Eleven, Jumping Stars, Friends Union, Excelsior Union,
               Champion Eleven, Victory Union Eleven.

Q3. What was Swaminathan’s opinion about selecting MCC as the name?
Ans: Swaminathan was little disappointed with the name as he felt that the name
Malgudi Cricket Club was imposing but too tame.

Q4. Which conditions according to Swaminathan, might lead to the Government not
recognising their cricket team or its name?
Ans: According to Swaminathan, the government would not recognise their team or its
name if they didn’t pay tax as there was a possibility of hundred other teams taking
over the same name which may later lead to all sorts of complications.

Q5. Why did Rajam want to buy three bats? Who objected to it and why?
Ans: Rajam wanted to buy three bats so as to have a backup if any one of them broke
in the middle of a match. Mani objected to it stating that buying three bats was a waste
of money and should be avoided.

Q6. What were Mani’s objection to the letter?
Ans: Mani had his doubts about the usage of the word ‘Dear’ at the beginning of the
letter to address a person who was a complete stranger to them.
