 Iodine is sued to make purple colour solution called tincture of iodine which is
applied on cuts and wounds as an antiseptic.
 Sulphur and phosphorus are used in fireworks.
 Carbon is the major constituent of fuel.

Many more uses of non – metals are there.

Alloys: Alloys are the homogeneous mixtures of metals or metals and non-metals.

It is done to enhance the property of metals or non-metals.

We know that iron can rust easily. But if we mix it with chromium and nickel then we will
get stainless steel which will not rust.

So we can say that stainless steel is the alloy of Fe (Ferrum), Cr (Chromium) and Ni
(Nickel).
Similarly, Bronze is the alloy of Copper (Cu) and Tin (Sn).
