            ORGANISMS AND THEIR SURROUNDINGS

Living organisms are found everywhere on the Earth – plaints, mountains, deserts, and
oceans. Micro organisms, which are minute organisms are present inside our body too!
            Living organisms have –
                ▪ Different body structures
                ▪ Varied eating habits
                ▪ Different breathing methods
                ▪ Different body parts for moving

                    ADAPTATION

                • The climate of a place can affect the living organisms of that area.
                • The features and habits of the animals start to change as per the climate of the place.
                • Animals and plants living in a particular place have evolved to survive there.
                • The adjustment or changes in the behavior, physiology, and structure of an organism
to suit the environment of a place is known as adaptation.
            Environment-
                ▪ Our surroundings include plants, animals, water, land, air, sun, sky, clouds, etc. All
these affect our life and is our environment. All that surrounds and affects the life of
an organism is called its environment.
                ▪ The complex of physical, chemical, and biotic factors (such as climate, soil, and
living things) that act upon an organism or an ecological community and ultimately
determine its form and survival is called its environment
            Ecosystem-
The living organisms in an environment interact with one another and also with the non –
living components to form an ecosystem.
            Ecology-
The study of the relationship between living organisms and their environment is called
            ecology.

            An ecosystem has two components
