TYPES OF VOLCANOES
• When a volcano frequently erupts lava, it is
called active volcano.
For example - Kilauea volcano located in
Hawaii is the most active volcano of the
world.
• The volcanoes that have not erupted for a
very long time but has the ability to erupt
are called dormant volcanoes.
For example -The Chaiten volcano in Chile is
a dormant volcano that erupted in 2008,
again after 9,400 years .
• The volcanoes that have not erupted for at
least 10,000 years, are known extinct
volcanoes.
For example - The Yellowstone volcano
located in Yellowstone National Park, USA.
