• The past continuous tense is  used to show that


           an action was going on at a particular time in the


           past.


           •We use the was/were+ -ing form of the verb to


           express the past continuous tense.



           • STRUCTURE


           SUBJECT + WAS/WERE + VERB + ING + PREDICATE(if


           any).


                    I was having dinner when Sarah called me.
