Rule 3:
For short, one-syllable verbs, that end with consonant +
vowel + consonant (CVC), we must double the last
consonant and then add –ing.
For example:
Mala is hitting the ball hard.
My father is jogging in the park.
Rule 4:
In some verbs ending in-ie ,we change the –ie to-y and
add-ing.
For example:
He is lying to his brother. (verb lie)
They are tying her shoelaces. (verb tie)
