                            Capitalist Working Class
                    • Marx believed that capitalist society would give way to

                       socialism.

                    • Capitalist society marked by the process of Alienation

The economic exploitation and inhuman working conditions lead

to the increasing alienation of man.

                    • Marx identified 4 specific ways in which alienation has
                       spread through the capitalist society.

                     1) Humans are alienated from nature

                     2) Humans are alienated from each other: Capitalism

regards workers as objects of labour. Capitalism leads to

                        individualises. Relationships become more market
                        mediated.

Alienated from the fruits of its labour/ product of labour: because

whatever worker produces it is owned by capitalist.
               3) Alienated from themselves: As the control of their lives are in

                   the hand of capitalist.

Marx’s conception of the economy was based on the notion of a

            mode of production
                    • Primitive Communism , slavery , feudalism and capitalism

                       were all modes of production.
                    • At a more specific level consists of superstructure.

                    • It includes the production forces and production relations.

It refers to all the economic relationships and forms of labour

organisation which are involved in production.
