 Rosy gave me some cereal , the word „me‟ is the indirect object , I‟m the person who got
                       cereal from Rosy.
 Jeff gave Mary a headache with all of his questions.
Jeff gave Mary a headache with all of his questions. Gave what? ‗Headache‘. Headache
is your direct object. To whom? ‗. Mary‘ is your indirect object. It answers to whom; it
comes between the action verb and the direct object
 A DO (direct object)and IO(indirect object) are nouns or pronouns that follow an action
verb .Direct Object questions are what? Or whom? And can‘t be in a phrase .An indirect
object can come before it and answers to/for what/ whom?
                    INDIRECT OBJECTS:
 Indirect objects answer the questions for whom/what or to whom/what. They ALWAYS
come between the action verb and the direct object. They NEVER come after a
                       preposition.
 You cannot have an indirect object without a direct object
 Indirect objects are not same as objects of preposition
                       Example-
 Daniel bought a car for her.
In the above example, it seems that ―her‖ would be the indirect object. However, ―her‖ is
the object of the preposition ―for‖. As noted , the indirect object will always precede the
direct object in a sentence. In this example the direct object, ―a car‖ is placed before the
―her‖ .Hence ‖her‖ is the object of the preposition.
 Only transitive verbs can have direct and indirect objects.
 MORE ABOUT TRANSITIVE & INTRANSITIVE VERBS:

 CHANGE OF SENTENCES INTO PASSIVE VOICE
To change the active voice into the passive voice is the best method to ascertain whether
the verb is in transitive or intransitive verb.
In 'He kicks the ball' is possible to change into passive voice, look at this example below!

Active Voice : He kicks the ball.
Passive Voice : The ball is kicked by him. (TRUE)

Now, try to change the sentence 'The beautiful woman smiles sweetly' into
                passive voice.

Active Voice : The beautiful woman smiles sweetly.
Passive Voice :Smiled sweetly by the beautiful woman. (FALSE)
 The Transitive verb needs an object to be changed into Passive voice. And the intransitive
verb doesn't need an object and CAN NOT be changed into Passive Voice
                    .Verbs of incomplete predication

 Intransitive verbs do not take an object. Examples are given below.

                           Fire burns.

 He sat on the floor.

                           The old man laughed.
