P. 2
7) In the following figure, ADB ≅ CDB. Find the values of x and y. 2
Solution: As ADB ≅ CDB,
<ADB = <CDB (c.p.c.t)
o
y + 5 =48
o
o
y = 48 – 5 = 43
0
similarly ,3x + 5 = 44
o
so, x = 13
8) In the given figure, AC bisects ∠A and ∠C. 3 (2+1)
(i) Is ABC ≅ ADC?
(ii) Is AB = AD ?
Solution:
I) In ABC and ADC
(i) <BAC = <DAC (AC bisects ∠A)
(ii) AC = CA (common)
(iii) <BCA = <ACD (AC bisects ∠C)
So, ABC ≅ ADC (ASA CONGRUENCE CRITERIA)
ii) AB = AD (c.p.c.t)
