A HELPING HAND

Students will be able to write a creative short story in 2-3 pages using the following criteria:

 Must be creative (using their own original, thought-provoking ideas).
 Must have an exposition, rising action, climax, falling action, and resolution.
 Must have at least 2 characters with introductions of at least 2 sentences each.
 Grammar and spelling must be correct.

 Using transition words and writing a strong ending to their narratives can make a big
                       impact on their story writing.

Example: Transition words like “first,” “next,” “then,” and “finally”help them give order to
their story. Then, they will practice coming up with interesting endings to their stories.
Finally, they will apply what they’ve learned about the writing process by drafting a
personal narrative describing what they did after school.
