GERMINATION

The process by which a new plant grows from a seed is called
               germination.

               Conditions necessary for germination

                                                        Condition

                       Oxygen Water Sunlight Temperature

               1. Oxygen –Seeds need air to breathe. In air, oxygen is present which an important and
essential source of energy required for seed growth.

               2. Water-It helps to make the seed coat soft, which in turn, enables the baby plant to break
open the seed and come out.

               3. Sunlight –Warmth from sunlight helps the baby plant present inside a seed to grow.

               4. Temperature-for a seed to germinate, it requires a moderate temperature of around 25-30
               0
                C.
The absence of any of these conditions does not allow the seeds to germinate.
