What are Igneous rocks?
• The word ‘igneous 'comes
from the Latin word ignis,
which means fire.
• Igneous rocks are defined
as types of rocks that are
formed when molten rock
(rock liquefied by intense
heat and pressure) cools to
a solid state.
• Igneous rocks are formed
from magma, the hot
molten materials found
deep inside the earth.
