Subtraction with Borrowing

• Step 1 – Subtracting ones, as 2 < 3
,we borrow 1 ten from tens column

, leaving behind 2 ten so it will be

(10+2)=12-3=9

• Step 2- Subtracting tens ,as we

are left with 2 tens in tens column
so 2-2=0

• Step 3- Subtracting hundreds, as
5< 6, we borrow 1 thousand from

thousand column, leaving behind 4

thousand ,so 15-6=9

• Step 4 – Subtracting thousand, as
we are left with 4 ten thousand, so

4-2=2.

• Step 5 – Subtracting ten thousand, as

we are left with 7 ten thousand, so 7 -
2=5.
