LP 1 – Equal Sharing

Learning objective: Students will be able to recognize division as a process of
equal sharing or taking away equal groups.

 What is division?

Division means to divide equally or share things equally. (÷) is the sign of
division consisting of a short horizontal line with a dot above and another dot
below.

Example: 9 apples are shared equally among 3 children.

9 ÷ 3 = 3

Dividend Divisor Quotient

 Dividend ÷ Divisor = Quotient

 Dividend means the number that will be divided.

 Divisor means the number that does the dividing.

 Quotient is the answer to a division equation.

Learning outcome: Students were able to recognize division as a process of
equal sharing.
