Subtraction with borrowing - Step 2

                                   4 13
                        H T O

                        7 5 3
                  – 3 7 8
                                                5

Moving forward to tens-place column. Minuend in tens-place is 4 and
subtrahend is 7. Again subtrahend > minuend. So, here we have to

      borrow 1 hundred = 10 tens from hundreds-column. Now tens-place
      column minuend has become 10 tens + 4 tens = 14 tens. 14 > 7. So we
can easily subtract 14 tens – 7 tens = 7 tens. We will write 7 under the

      tens-place column.

                        6 14 13
                        H T O
                        7 5 3
                  – 3 7 8

                                   7 5

As we have borrowed 1 hundred from hundreds-place column, so in
hundreds-place column the minuend is now
      7 hundreds – 1 hundred = 6 hundreds.
