Example: A shop has 140 cakes. 118 cakes are sold. How many cakes
are left?
Solution: Cakes = 1 4 0 H T O
Cakes sold = 1 1 8 1 4 0
Cakes left = 1 4 0 – 1 1 8 - 1 1 8
Therefore 22 cakes are left. 0 2 2
Learning outcome: Students understood story problems and were able to
write statements out of it and solve column wise.
