P. 4

Step 2:
Then we will see whether the first digit of the dividend (1), is there in the
table of 4 or not, since 1 is less than the divisor and it is also not in the
table of 4 so we will move to the next digit of the dividend and will take it
together as 16. When the first digit of the dividend is less than the divisor
then move to the next digit and combine it and see whether the 2-digits are
divided by 4 or it comes in the multiplication table of 4 or not.

Step 3: Now divide 16 by 4. 16 comes in the table of 4 (4 times), write 16
below the dividend and 4 on the top of the dividend. (4 X 4 = 16). Subtract
               16 from 16. 16 – 16 = 0.

Step 4: Now move down the last digit of the dividend (0). The divisor (4)
goes into the bottom number (0), 0 time(s). Therefore put 0 on top and
multiply the divisor (4 X 0 = 0) and write the answer at the bottom. Now
               subtract 0 from 0 (0 – 0) = 0 and write answer down.

                                                       4 0
                                            4) 1 6 0
                                                    - 1 6

                                                        0___

                                                             0

                                                             -0

                                                              0

You are done, because there are no more digits to move down from the
               dividend.

The answer is the top number and the remainder is the bottom number.

Therefore, the answer to 160 divided by 4 calculated using Long
               Division is:

               Quotient = 40, Remainder = 0, divisor = 4, Dividend = 160.

Learning outcome: Students were able to solve step- by- step the long
               division method without remainder.
