Rules
1. Adjectives generally form the comparative by
adding -er and the superlative by adding -est.
Example - Old ---older ---oldest
Long --- longer --- longest
2. If an adjective ends in -e, then we add only –r for the
comparative form and –st for the superlative form.
Example - Wise --- wiser --- wisest.
Safe --- safer --- safest
3. If the adjective is a short word ,ends with a consonant and
has a single vowel in the middle then the last consonant
will be doubled.
Example – Big --- bigger --- biggest
Thin --- thinner --- thinnest
