PREJUDICE refers to pre-conceived
opinions or attitudes held by members
of one group towards another. The
word literally means ‘pre-judgement’
i.e an opinion formed in advance of any
familarity with the subject, before
considering any available evidence.
Stereotypes are oversimplified
generalization about groups of people.
It fixes whole groups into single. It is a
fixed and inflexible characterisation of a
group of people.
Discrimination is defined as
distinguishing differences between
things or treating someone as inferior
based on their race, sex, national origin,
age or other characteristics.
Untouchability is an extreme and
particularly viciuos aspect of the caste
system that prescribes stringent social
sanctions against members of castes
located at the bottom of the purity-
pollution scale.
