4) Doris gets a shock

Doris Mrs.Pearson's daughter a girl of 20 gets a shock as

she returns home and finds her mother smoking and

playing cards. When she asks for tea and wants her dress

to be ironed gets scolded by Mrs Pearson who makes fun

of her boyfriend Charlie Spence.

5) Cyril too gets a surprise

Cyril, the son of Mrs.Pearson returns home and asks for

tea only to get a rude rejection from her. She was not

going to serve them anymore and rather join a union to

claim her rights.

6) Cyril and Doris confront Anne

Both Cyril and Doris are shocked and horrified at their

mother's weird behaviour. Anne remarks that it was high

time that they served themselves. She further said that

they all worked 8 hours a day and two days off at the

weekend. Hence she too was going to take two days off

and go out. Cyril and Doris thought that she had hit her

head against something and lost her balance.
