LESSON NOTES Mother's Day
1)A humorous play that portrays the status of a mother in
the family. The author brings out the plight of the
mother Mrs.Anne Pearson who is not treated well by her
husband and children. With the help of her neighbour
Mrs. Fitzgerald, she stands up for her rights and gets back
her due place in the family.
2)Mrs.Anne Pearson and Mrs Fitzgerald
Both are next door neighbours Mrs Anne Pearson a
pleasant and submissive lady shares her plight at home
with Mrs Fitzgerald, aggressive and dominant personality.
Mrs. Pearson is suppressed by her husband, son and
daughter and serves like an unpaid domestic servant.
3) Mrs.Fitzgerald ' s Plan to teach the Persons a lesson
Mrs.Fitzgerald is disturbed at Mrs. Pearson 's plight in her
family. She suggests that they should exchange their
bodies temporarily by using a magic spell she had learnt
in the east. Mrs. Pearson agrees and the transformation
takes place and Mrs. Fitzgerald ' s personality shifts into
Mrs.Pearson's and vice versa.
