Cyber Safety safe and responsible use of Internet to ensure safety and security of personal
information and not posing threat to anyone else’s information.
For safely browsing the one needs to know:
What are the possible dangers?
How to avoid these?
How to virtually conduct yourself while browsing web?
Identity protection while using Internet
Identity theft is a type of fraud that involves using someone else’s identity(name, login details
etc) to steal money or gain other benefits.
Because of identity theft user may face problems of hacking, stalking and identity fraud.
Identity fraud is when personal details that have been accessed or stolen are used to commit
fraudulent acts posing as someone else with stolen identity.
Most common solution: Private browsing or Anonymous Browsing
Tracking by Websites
Internet users are tracked and information is used by advertising networks to build up detailed
profiles for pinpoint ad-targeting , Also user are tracked for special purpose such as effecting
their political choices.
The type of information is compiled through your web usage patterns, and which websites
generally use for tracking you. This generally includes:
i) IP address
ii) Cookies
iii) HTTP referrer
iv) Super cookies
v) User agent
IP Address
IP address is a unique address of a device when the device connect to the Internet. From the IP
address, a website can determine the rough geographical location of the device.
User Agent
Browsers send a user agent every time a user connects to a website. This tells websites about
the browser and operating system, providing another piece of data that can be stored and used
to target ads.
