Lesson Note
While using social media, if you conduct yourself in a responsible way, you can enjoy using
social media and can utilize its power for yourself. For this you should follow following usage
rules applicable on the use of social media.
• Be Authentic - Be honest about your identity. Represent yourself in clear and honest
way, without boasting.
• Use a Disclaimer – While giving a personal view on a topic, do make it clear that these
are your personal views and you do not represent any institution or organization here.
• Don’t Pick Fights Online. May arise due to some unfavourable post, try to handle softly,
but if the case falls into category of trolls or cyber bullying then handle it in proper way.
• Don’t Use Fake Names or Pseudonyms. Protect Your Identity and be honest about
yourself, BUT you should never provide or post personal information online. Can be
misutilised, better to create a separate e-mail address that is used only with social
media sites.
• Don’t post anything for a person similar to which you don’t like to see for you at present
or may be after tens of years.
• Respect your audience. Don’t use slangs, personal insults, obscenity, or engage in any
conduct that would not be acceptable in your connected world.
• Respect other’s Sentiment and privacy. Never post anything that may compromise
someone’s privacy or hurt someone’s sentiments.
