                       • Meaning of Ledgers:

                            •  It is a book in which transactions are classified and posted.

                            •  it is a book which contains record of all the transactions in a

                                summarized and classified form.
                            •  It is also known as Principle book.

                            •  It is recorded on the basis of Journal entries.


                     •       Features of Ledger:



                           ✓  Transactions are recorded from journal
                           ✓  It records both debit & credit aspects of the transaction

                           ✓  Entry recorded from journal to leger is called Posting.



                     •        Advantages of Ledger:


                          •  It provides complete information of a particular account.
                          •  It helps to know about Expenses and Income

                          •  It is the basis of preparation of trial balance.

                          •  Helps in preparation of final accounts.
