Multiplying (i) by 9, we get,

9x +9 y = 72 ………………. (iii)
9x - 9y = -18 ……………….(ii)

Adding (iii) and (ii)

18x = 54

x = 3

Substituting value of x in (i), we get
3 + y = 8
y = 5
