SEPARATION OF A MIXTURE OF TWO LIQUIDS:

               Miscible liquids

Liquids which mix well with one another are known as miscible liquids.

Example: Milk and water, alcohol and water.

               Immiscible liquids

Liquids which do not mix with one another are known as immiscible liquids.

               Example: Oil and water

Separation of a mixture of miscible liquids

Two miscible liquids can be separated by the method of distillation/fractional distillation.
Here the liquids should have a difference in their boiling points.

For example, when we want to separate a mixture of alcohol and water, we boil the
mixture. Alcohol has lower boiling point than water so it evaporates first. The vapours of
alcohol are cooled and collected. Water remains back.
