PLURAL POSSESSIVE NOUNS

                              CONDITION EXAMPLE

                In order to make a plural noun  Women = women’s
possessive that doesn’t end in the letter  Mice = mice’s
“s” all you have to do is add an
                   apostrophe and an “s.”
                                                                    Cars = cars’
 If the plural noun ends in an “s” it  Rivers = rivers’
                   becomes possessive by adding an
                   apostrophe at the end.

                    NOTE
We do not use the possessive form for non-living things. For example, we should
                    always say:
 The hand of the clock, not the clock’s hand.

 The door of the house, not the house’s door.

               NOTES:

 A possessive noun is a noun that possesses something—i.e., it has something.
 In most cases, a possessive noun is formed by adding an apostrophe +s to the

noun, or if the noun is plural and already ends in s, only an apostrophe needs
                   to be added.
 The apostrophe works as an arrow, pointing towards the owner.

               Examples:

 In the following sentence, boy’s is a possessive noun modifying pencil:
The boy’s pencil snapped in half.
 It is clear that the pencil belongs to the boy; the’s signifies ownership.
                                       The cat’s toy was missing.
