       CHAPTER – UNDERSTANDING THE WEATHER
       Weather is the state of the Earth’s atmosphere at a particular time and place. It is what we feel and experience
       daily, such as a chilly winter morning or a hot summer afternoon.

             The Atmosphere: A layer of gases (air) surrounding the Earth.




















             The Troposphere: The layer closest to the Earth's surface (extending 6 to 18 km high).
                  o  It is where humans, plants, and animals live.
                  o  Crucial Fact: Almost all weather phenomena occur in this layer.
                  o  It is thicker at the equator (warm air expands) and thinner at the poles (cold air contracts).
