Intransitive Verbs of Complete and Incomplete Predication

I am a student. The child cried.
Hungry wolves are voracious. The child cried bitterly.
The royals have many mansions. The boy walks.
My father has a laptop. The rain falls heavily.
Observe the predicate and look at the verbs used in the Set-1. Certain intransitive verbs need a
word(Complement) or phrase to complete the predicate and make the sentence meaningful.
You may need to learn verbs of incomplete predication.

‘Hungry wolves are voracious’. Here the verb ‘are’ require the use of other word in order to form
complete predicate.
Verbs which thus require the help of other words to form predicates are called verbs of INCOMLETE
PREDICATION. Examples are: is, am, are, was, were, become, look, seem, appear, taste, smell, grow,
turn etc.
