               CHAPTER: THE FIR TREE

               About the Author:

The Fir-Tree" (Danish: Grantræet) is a literary fairy tale by the Danish poet and author Hans
Christian Andersen Tale (1805–1875). The tale is about a Fir Tree so anxious to grow up, so
anxious for greater things, that he cannot appreciate living in the moment. The tale was first
published 21 December 1844 with "The Snow Queen", in New Fairy Tale, First Volume,
in Copenhagen, New York, by C.A. Reitzel. One scholar (Andersen biographer Jackie
Wohlschlaeger) indicates that "The Fir-Tree" was the first of Andersen's fairy tales to
               express a deep pessimism.

               Mind Map:

                                         Obsession with growing up and

                                            anxious for greater things

                            Nothing was ever good
enough for tree as he He found himself wishing that

always thought he wanted he ws able to enjoy all the
what everyone else had things that he was able to do.

Wanted to be as tall as other
                        trees. Wanted to leave the

forest and be the mast of Wanted to be cut down and

the ship choosen as Christmas Tree.
