LN – Tally marks and frequency table
Learning objective: Students will be able to collect and organize
information in a table using tally chart.
• Data is the collection of information about people or things.
• Data can be organized by using standing lines and slanting lines called
tally marks.
• Tally marks are the way to mark or record general counting. The way
of writing tally marks is four lines drawn vertically and the fifth line
runs across the previous four vertical lines.
• We group tally marks in five, with the fifth mark down across the first four
marks.
Example: Let’s see how the numbers 1 to 10 are represented using
tally marks.
