Infectious agents Diseases

Virus Common cold, Dengue, Influenza, AIDS

                Bacteria Typhoid ,Cholera, Anthrax, Tuberculosis

Protozoan Malaria, kala-azar, Sleeping sickness, Amoebic dysentry

Fungi Many common infectious diseases, skin infections

                Worms/Nematodes Worm infection, elephantiasis

               Peptic ulcers

                   • In 2005, Barry Marshall and Robin Warren were awarded the Nobel Prize in

Physiology or Medicine for their discovery that peptic ulcer disease (PUD) was
primarily caused by Helicobacter pylori, a bacterium with affinity for acidic

                       environments, such as the stomach.

                   • Peptic ulcers are open sores that develop on the inside lining of your stomach and
the upper portion of your small intestine. The most common symptom of a peptic

ulcer is stomach pain. Peptic ulcers include: Gastric ulcers that occur on the inside
of the stomach. Peptic ulcers can be cured only when bacteria are killed in the

                       stomach using appropriate antibiotics,

               COMPARATIVE ACCOUNT OF VIRUS, BACTERIA

Bacteria – All bacteria are closely

related to each other and share a
                       common biochemical pathway for

                       living.
