Introduction
‘The Bond of Love’ is a story by Kenneth Anderson which shows a
strong attachment between a human being and a sloth bear that
becomes a pet. The animal is rescued by the author and is named
‘Bruno’.
Bruno gets attached with the author’s wife and soon they develop a
great bond of love and affection. But a time comes when it
becomes necessary to shift the animal to a zoo due to unavoidable
circumstances and for the betterment of her family. Upon
separating, she realizes that she shares a true bond of love with
Bruno and reunites with him.
It indicates that animals do have feelings and are capable of
reciprocating the same love as a human being, which is
accompanied with warmth and affection
. Lesson and Explanation
I WILL begin with Bruno, my wife‟s pet sloth bear. I got him for her by
accident. Two years ago we were passing through the sugarcane fields
near Mysore. People were driving away the wild pigs from the fields by
shooting at them. Some were shot and some escaped. We thought that
everything was over when suddenly a black sloth bear came out panting
in the hot sun.
