               Agents of pollination

For carrying out cross-pollination, some external agents are required for
transferring the pollens from one flower to another.

The natural agents such as birds, insects, animals, wind and water help in
transferring the pollen. They are called Pollinating agents.

               (i) Insects- Insects feed on the nectar of flower.
 They get attracted to the colour and odour of flowers.
 When they sit on such flowers, pollen grains released from anthers
stick to their body and get carried away to some other flower where
they get deposited and help in cross pollination.
 Some examples are -bees and butterflies
