(ii) Fragmentation

 Fragmentation is a form of asexual reproduction, in which an organism
reproduces by breaking its filamentous body into two or more parts
(fragments) after a certain period of growth.
 Each of these fragments develops into a mature fully grown individual (a new
                        filament).
 Each new filament is the clone of the original organism. This type of asexual
                        reproduction is called Fragmentation
 E.g., a green algae spirogyra grows in water bodies such as ponds. It forms
a film on the water surface called pond scum and reproduces through
                        fragmentation.

                                             Spirogyra Pond scum

                                                  Fragmentation of spirogyra.
