Subtopic- Spherical Mirrors
Spherical Mirror
The mirrors which have curved reflecting surface are called spherical mirrors.
These are two types
1. Convex mirror
2. Concave mirror
Terms related to spherical mirror
Principal Focus
When a parallel beam of light is incident on a spherical mirror, they converge to a point or
appears to diverge from a point after reflection.
This point is called Principal focus.
Centre of Curvature
It is the centre of the sphere of which the spherical mirror is a part.
Principal Axis
It is the line passing through the centre of curvature of sphere of which mirror is a part and the
centre of mirrors.
