Saraswati and Swami Vivekananda led the reformation movement.
• They worked towards putting an end to social practices such as sati,
child marriage and caste system.
• Raja Ram Mohan Roy is known as the “Father of Modern India”. He
founded the Brahmo Samaj.
Indian National Congress:
• It was founded in 1885 by Allan Octavian Hume.
• The President of the first session was Womesh Chandra Bonnerjee.
• The INA Demanded the British for:
Beneficial policies for Indians
Employment for Indians in government jobs.
Better living condition for Indians.
• The Congress Leaders who approached British in a peaceful manner
were called Moderates.
• The Radicals wanted quick action. They wanted to strike and boycott the
British Government.
