The point of disturbance under the earth’s surface is called as Epicentre.
Seismograph is used to measure the intensity of earthquake.
Richter scale is a device to measure the magnitude of an earthquake.
Seismic zone is an area which has a high risk of earthquakes. The Himalayan
region is an example of seismic zone.
Safety measures to be taken for earthquake are:
i. House built should be earthquake resistant.
ii. When earthquakes strikes, people should move out to open spaces.
iii. If stuck inside the house, one should take shelter under a table or
desk.
iv. People should move out through emergency exits and avoid
elevators.
