SPACE TRAVEL
Human beings are very curious about the outer space and celestial bodies.
They have made many trips into the outer space in 1961.
Yuri Gagarin from Russia became the first person to travel the space.
Since then, people from different countries of the world made several trips to the space.
Rakesh Sharma was the first Indian to travel to the space.
Astronauts undergo intensive training going to the space, not only do they learn about the
space but they are also trained to how-to live-in conditions such as no air and gravity,
extreme temperature variation and radiation.
To protect themselves from harsh condition in space, astronauts wear a special suit called
the space suit.
Space suit creates an Earth like atmosphere for them. It also helps them to float in the
space.
Space journey:
Apollo 11:
Apollo 11 was the first manned mission to land on the Moon.
The first steps by humans on another planetary body were taken by Neil Armstrong and
Buzz Aldrin on July 20, 1969.
The astronauts also returned to Earth the first samples from another planetary body.
After traveling 240,000 miles in 76 hours, Apollo 11 entered into a lunar orbit on July 19.
The next day, at 1:46 p.m., the lunar module Eagle, manned by Armstrong and Aldrin,
separated from the command module, where Collins remained.
They spent 21 hours and 36 minutes on the surface of the moon and collected 21.5 kg of
materials from moon to bring back to the Earth.
