• There was once a woman who was very, very
cheerful, though she had little to make her so.
She was old, poor, and lonely. She lived in a little
cottage and earned a scant living by running
errands for her neighbours. Thereby she got a
bite here, and a spoonful there as reward for her
services.
• She always looked spry and joyful except when
her fear of ghosts (or Bogey-Ghosts , as she
callled them) took over her. In those occasions,
she would be shivering and trembling.
