P. 2

Example 1: Anil takes 120 seconds to prepare a paper boat. How many
               minutes is that?

Answer: Time taken by Anil = 120 seconds

                              We know, 60 seconds = 1 minute.

                                               120 seconds = (120 ÷ 60) minutes

                            120 ÷ 60 gives quotient 2.

                            So, 120 seconds = 2 minutes.

Therefore, Anil takes 2 minutes to prepare a paper boat.

Example 2: Raju takes 150 seconds to swim 100 m. How many minutes is
               that?

Answer: Time taken by Raju to swim 100 m = 150 seconds

                              We know, 60 seconds = 1 minute.

                                               150 seconds = (150 ÷ 60) minutes

                            150 ÷ 60 gives quotient 2 and remainder 30.

                            So, 150 seconds = 2 minutes 30 seconds.

Therefore, Raju takes 2 minutes and 30 seconds to swim 100 m.

Example 3: How many hours is 7825 minutes?

Answer: We know, 60 minutes = 1 hour.

                                               7825 minutes = (7825 ÷ 60) minutes

                            7825 ÷ 60 gives quotient 130 hours and remainder 25.

                            So, 7825 minutes = 130 hours 25 minutes

Therefore, required answer is 130 hours and 25 minutes.

                                                                                                  Page | 2
