                                               Correlation analysis

                                                    (Module-65 )

Spearman’s rank coefficient of correlation: -

Karl Pearson’s coefficient of correlation is applicable to the data which are

quantitative in nature but in case of qualitative data like honesty, simplicity,
punctuality, etc we apply the spearman’s rank coefficient of correlation.

Therefore, the Spearman’s rank correlation coefficient, is

the nonparametric version of the Pearson correlation coefficient.

Where refers to spearman’s rank coefficient of correlation.

d refers to difference between the ranks.

n refers to number of data.

               Computation of Rank Correlation

               When Ranks are given

               When Ranks are not given

Example: - The scores for nine students in physics and math are as follows:
   1   2   3   4   5   6
