Activity---8
To display the parts of a bisexual flower (Hibiscus).

            Materials Required:
A hibiscus flower, forceps, paper and magnifying glass.

            How to proceed:
            1. Place an undamaged hibiscus flower on a paper.

            2. Check the flower’s base for the sepals. Lift the sepals with tweezers and pull them back to
get the full length of the petals and the ovules beneath.

            3. Remove each petal and lay them on the paper.

            4. Examine the exposed stamen. Examine the pollen grains on the stamen using a magnifying
            glass.

            5. Remove the stamen with the forceps to get the pistil in the centre of the flower.

            6. Remove each part of the pistil and place them too on the paper. Use a sticky tape to keep
            them in place.

            7. Cut open the ovary to see the ovules and remove them with the forceps and stick them on
            the paper provided.
