Post-fertilization changes in flower
The diploid zygote gives rise to the embryo and future plant.
After fertilization, ovary becomes fruit and ovules turn into seeds.
All other parts like, sepals, petals, stamens shrivel and fall off only pistil
remains attached to the plant.
The ovary wall is transformed into a protective layer called the pericarp which
covers the fruit.
Parts of a seed
The three primary parts of a seed are the embryo, endosperm, and seed coat.
The embryo is the young multicellular organism before it emerges from
the seed.
The endosperm is a source of stored food, consisting primarily of starches.
The seed coat consists of one or more protective layers that encase the seed.
The mechanism involving two acts of fertilisation in an embryo sac is called
double fertilisation.
