Aim:- To show vegetative propagation in plants
Materials required: Pieces of potato with buds called ‘eyes’, ginger, turmeric with nodes and
internodes, leaves of bryophyllum.
How to proceed:
1. Take a Bryophyllum leaf and put it in a rich manure- rich soil.
2. Water the soil as per requirement.
3. Observe the shoots emerging from the margin of the leaf in about 15 days.
Observation: Buds are produced in the notches along the leaf margin of Bryophyllum.
Inference: The buds produced may fall on the soil and develop onto new plants.
Activity 8.5(b)
Aim:- To study growth of fungus on white bread.
Materials required: Slice of bread and water.
How to proceed:
1. Wet a slice of bread and keep it in a cool and moist place.
2. Observe the surface of the slice with a magnifying glass.
